Frequently asked questions

Got questions? I’ve got answers.

  • Yes. I am in network with BCBS (most plans) as well as United commercial (UHC) and UMR. I am out of network with all other plans.

  • Individual sessions are $125 for the 50-minute intake session and $110 for subsequent sessions (also 50-minutes). Longer sessions may be scheduled, upon request, and will require additional out of pocket costs.

If using insurance, your cost will depend upon your particular plan’s benefits and whether or not a deductible applies. You can call the customer service number on the back of your card to inquire about what your particular plan allows.

  • I am available for scheduling Monday-Thursday 9 am - 4 pm. At this time, I do not have evening or weekend appointment availability.

  • No, I do not offer free consultations. If, in the intake session, you or I determine there is a barrier to us working together or the fit is inappropriate, we can discuss at that time. I find this rarely happens, though, as clients who schedule with me do so because the content on my website resonates with them and they believe we will be a good fit.

  • No. I only provide virtual therapy. For more information on what virtual therapy is like, see associated question below.

  • Virtual therapy is just like regular therapy, except you aren’t confined to meeting in my office! You can meet from your house, your office, your car, the park, wherever you are comfortable. Although I do suggest you meet somewhere you can have privacy, I have had clients meet from various locations that work for them. Clients can meet before or after work, on their lunch hours, etc. As long as you have a stable internet connection for the 50-minute session, you’re all set! The same eye contact, tone, and connection can be established in a virtual session that can be found in-person. My main reason for providing all virtual therapy is that the majority of my clients prefer it to in-person because they enjoy the flexibility it provides.

  • In the first session, we will discuss any questions from the intake paperwork, as well as a brief overview of my policies and procedures. We will then dive into what brought you to therapy. If you want to get talking, I’ll let you lead. If you prefer to have me ask questions to get us going, we can do that, too. It’s just a chance for us to get to know each other and to clarify what you want to get out of therapy.

  • Click any of the contact forms throughout this site. I will receive an immediate email with your information and we can go from there.

  • This differs among clients, but I always joke that the job of a therapist is to eventually put ourselves out of work. I do periodic check-ins with clients to gauge progress and help us determine if we are meeting goals, need to increase or decrease sessions, etc. This is a collaborative decision between therapist and client, and I want your feedback, too!

  • Some clients prefer to meet weekly while others choose to meet biweekly or less often. We typically have a discussion about what seems most appropriate. If a new client feels they could manage with biweekly sessions, oftentimes, I’ll suggest they come weekly for a few sessions so we can build momentum before decreasing the frequency, if indicated.

  • I have a client portal that I will send you a link to once our initial appointment has been scheduled. There, you will be able to read and sign all forms, fill out the intake questionnaire, and do any assigned clinical screenings.
