What was meant to be a helpful survival skill for us can sometimes be in overdrive, meaning our bodies and minds can have a hard time figuring out how to calm down. This can lead us to have mental and emotional difficulties like ruminating, unhelpful thinking, thought spiraling, panic attacks, avoidance, isolation, etc. It can also lead to significant physical issues like headaches, stomach problems, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, aches and pains, etc. Anxiety can feel like it’s running your life, despite your best attempts to control it.

  • I incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore and change anxious thought patterns as well as focusing on incorporating more self-compassion.

  • Most clients notice improvements when they are ruminating less, feeling able to identify and change anxious thoughts, use coping mechanisms to assist when feeling anxious, and overall reporting less severe experiences of anxiety in their daily lives.

  • Therapy is only 50 minutes, meaning SO much work can be done outside of sessions. Many clients like to find books based on anxiety, practicing coping skills and techniques in their daily lives, reducing overall stress in helpful ways (diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, etc.). Every little bit helps!
